Firewire TimberTek Seaside and Beyond Surfboard
Firewire TimberTek Seaside and Beyond Surfboard
I've really been wanting to play around with some longer fishy kind of boards for a while now... Ever since I spent some time with Skip Frye and he showed me some of his fishes in the 7 foot range it's been on my mind. I first stretched out the GO FISH and made a 7 foot range it's been on my mind. I first stretched out the GO FISH and made a 7 footer. It worked great and really got my mind spinning. Than i made a 7'0" seaside and it became one of my favorite boards on my quiver. I rode it in everything. Super small days, bigger days and everything in between. It's become a board that I will take with me everywhere I go.
Technology: TimberTek
TIMBERTEK represents a significant step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactures in today's environmentally conscious world. While by no means sustainably built, Firewire's TIMBERTEK has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially available surfboard today.
The Combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown Paulownia wood deck skins, Firewire's proprietary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with ALL of the high-performance flex characteristics of Firewire's existing technologies.
Even more impressive, the physical properties of the ram materials involved have allowed us to reduce exterior lamination significantly, furthering the reduction of the board's carbon footprint. Or as we like to describe TIMBERTEK, it's simply High Performance Art.
Paulownia Wood Deckskin: Paulownia wood is extremely fast growing: up to 20 feet in one year when young. Some species of plantation Paulownia can be harvested for saw timber in as little as five years. Once the trees are harvested, they regenerate form their existing root system, earning the name of the "Phoenix Tree."

Firewire Seaside and Beyond TimberTek Surfboard - At A Glance
First impression when I through this board underarm was how refined it felt for a mid-length. Most mid-lengths feel a bit longboardish with shorter dims however the Firewire SB feels refined in the rails, tail block and nose area. Machado defiantly gave the board plenty of foam under chest to catch tiny waves, but he thinned the rails out to help sink them deep into turns to make the board reactive for its given length. The fish tail just screams speed and flow and that is what I experienced riding this mid-length. Putting this board through turns I noticed the nose does not seem to get hung up like other mid-lengths do. Overall, I really enjoy riding this board when conditions are small, but I still want to put some nice turns in, that a longboard just can't do.
